Quote of the Day – Jay Leno
February 22, 2007 at 3:36 pm | Posted in American politics, Great Britain, Iraq, Military | 2 Comments“The British announced they were pulling their troops out of the Iraq. Dick Cheney immediately called it good news. He said, ‘It’s a sign that we’re winning.’ How come when our allies pick up and leave, that’s a victory for us? But when we leave, it’s a victory for al Qaeda? How does that work?”

This is one of those statements that bites both ways though. Why when we elect ‘not’ to leave is it a disaster, but if England ‘does’ leave it is also proof that Iraq is a disaster? The quote is funny, but both sides are trying to spin England’s manuever as proof they are right. It does neither. All it proves is that England is making the decision to withdraw (for better or for ill).

Yeah, I thought Jay Leno nailed it with his humor. I am rather troubled by the British leaving, but from what I’ve seen, it has to do with Afghanistan, and British presence there requiring more soldiers than they can put out in the field.
