The Ad Democrats Should Use
September 30, 2006 at 2:43 am | Posted in American politics, internet predators, Republicans | Leave a commentIn the wake of a new scandal that seems to envelop Republican leadership in the House, started by Rep. Foley of Florida who resigned effectively immediately, Democrats have an opportunity to bury Republicans for good this November. As one on Daily Kos said:
“Republicans trusted a pedophile to protect your children from predators. Can you trust them to protect you from terrorism?”
What is this all about?
Rep. Foley, a Republican from Florida, chaired the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children’s Caucus in the House, pressing hard for the punishment of Internet predators. How ironic. It ends up that he, himself, is an Internet predator! Americablog has the instant messages that show Rep. Foley getting into very sexual discussions with underage boys, pages in Congress. What is worse, apparently, is that Republican leadership knew about this at least a year ago, yet apparently did not do anything about it. I mean, why would they let an internet predator remain as a Congressman?
So my fellow Democrats, it is time to hit Republicans hard. They keep pressing us on terror, let us press back on predators. Who stands for protecting the innocent?
