The Huffington Post has on its front page today the following picture:

Ten Middle-Aged White Men

Is anyone surprised that the Republican field has ten white middle-aged men as their candidates for president?

Look at the Democratic field: a woman, a black man, a hispanic, and four white men.

What do you all think about this difference?

  1. Unsurprising and unimportant. In 2000, the Republican field included Elizabeth Dole (a woman) and Alan Keyes (a black man).

  2. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all stop worrying about race, creed, gender and other demographics and deal with issues, qualifications, and character.

  3. McCain is “middle aged”?

I guess we’re all living until 140 now, eh? 😉

  4. If race ought to be a non-issue, why then is it an issue that the republican candidates are all white? Aren’t we supposed to be color-blind???? Or does that not apply to white men???

  5. What do you think of Condaleeza Rice (woman and black) and Alberto Gonzalez (hispanic)?

  6. They are not candidates for President.
