The Good Democrat 
I started out cheering for the Rockies (I live in AZ and am a D-Back fan). Of course, I realized that I would enjoy seeing the Rockies get swept more than I would seeing an NL team win the series. So, I started cheering for the Red Sox after game two.
I will be curious to see how many players Boston is able to retain. Schilling will probably leave and Lowell looks like he might be gone too. Might be interesting to see if Boston makes a play for A-Rod.

I think they’ll try to resign Lowell, but they’ll probably lose Schilling, and they’ll probably dump CoCo Crisp and possibly look to trade JD Drew.
It will be interesting to see if they go after A-Rod, but I don’t if Boston fans will have it after what happened several years ago with him. But I think they’ll make some sort of move for a veteran shortstop…
But the big question in my mind is what they do with Manny. I’m betting that they will not resign him.

With the young players on the Red Sox, they have a core that makes them a contender for years to come. Add a few, good veteran players and I can see the Red Sox in another World Series.
A-Rod is making a good career move by not taking the option, but I’m not sure which team will be able to afford him.

I lived in the Boston area from 2001-2005. It was really hard NOT to pay attention to the Redsox and get caught up in the fever, especially in 2004. What an amazing year.
Boston will be able to retain most of their core players. They will probably offer Mike Lowell an offer he really can’t refuse. I think Redsox owners have to pay attention to their fans who really don’t want A-rod in Boston. Frankly, as good as a player A-rod is, he is not worth the money he asks. He doesn’t deliver when it counts, in the post season. It’s not like he hasn’t had opportunities to deliver, seeing that the Yankees have been to the post season in all four years he’s been with them.
And to have his agent blurt out in the middle of Game 4 of the World Series? WTF!!!! Talk about a classless act!

The Redsox have JD Drew locked in until 2011 I believe, from what I’ve read. He’s another of those A-rod type players, who think more of themselves than they are really worth. Phillies fans hate him. Cardinals fans hate him. And so on. Phillies fans have the most reason to hate him for the way he left the Phillies in the dust to go to St. Louis. Who knows, maybe he’s grown up, but I doubt it.
Manny is in contract until 2010. So is David Ortiz. This Redsox team won’t be changing that much over the next two or three years.

Frankly the Yankee Fans would LOVE to see A-Rod in Boston right now. That would be awesome. Boston fan revolution that would make the Boston tea party look like a tea party. The awesome comments that A-Rod makes? Its all you. A-Rod is CLASSY. Leaking his intentions in the final game of the world series? A-rod nailed his own coffin for me. Its a relief to see A-Rod gone.

A-Rod has his best years ahead of him. He may figure out October, but the Yanks are better off without him. I wish him well, hope he beats Bonds record, and well, he’s one of the very best baseball players today and may be one of the best ever.
The Red Sox management knows the headache A-Rod is, so I strongly doubt they’d bring him because they don’t need another slugging primadonna. Manny and Ortiz are the Bo-Sox casual fan draws. Those are the big names. The rest of the lineup is tough and a tough pitching staff. The key is building up a pitching staff, and hitters that get on base. Boston management has simply learned from the Yanks of the ’90s and now we’re seeing our own tactics used. That’s alright.
Personally, BoSox may be on the verge of being the Yanks of the ’90s but there’s several teams that are right up with them. That being said, it’ll be fun to see the BoSox deal with their bandwagon fans, the outcry from everyone else. They already have them, they fill stadiums up everywhere else just like the Yanks, but watching the lifelong fans figure out they are no longer (and haven’t been for quite some time) the underdogs? That’ll be priceless.

I hope he doesn’t go to San Francisco, though that seems to be a very viable option.
We’ll see how long they last. I give them at least two more World Series victories before that happens.

Before what happens? They already fill stadiums everywhere just like the Yanks.
They no longer are baseball underdogs.
And the lifelong fans realizing they aren’t underdogs? That’s already starting, and you’ll see it next season. It’ll be awesome.
The Yanks are HATED because they were so good in the ’90s. Boston is going to start feeling a little bit of that next season. But that’s just a prediction, not a fact.

Filling the stadium (especially one as small as Fenway Park isn’t a good indicator of a team gone arrogant. Certainly they are no longer underdogs (and never were really—the Curse was all hype). Boston has consistently been near the top of the league. And they are definitely the best team right now.

Dan, first off, I said simply “They already fill stadiums everywhere just like the Yanks.” I didn’t say “fill the stadium”
Everywhere isn’t a new synonym for Fenway park. The Yanks, the Sox, maybe the Braves (not so much after their season,) the Cubs, and maybe another team fill ballparks throughout the country no matter where they play. The Yanks consistently play to sold out stadiums year long. Especially when they play NL teams. The Sox have been doing this too, especially since they won in ’04.
The Sox haven’t been underdogs for a while now. However, I said that they are no longer the underdogs because they milk that perception, and have for a long, long time. The curse just feeds into the underdog perception. Casual baseball fans saw them as the David that slew Goliath back in ’04, many jumped on the bandwagon and the Sox definitely don’t too much to correct that perception. The curse just fed the underdog perception. Now, and I’ve seen this—other baseball fans of teams besides the Yankees and the Sox are realizing what’s going on in Boston.
Anyone who really follows baseball knows that the Sox have never been underdogs. You should know by now that I know that. They have the payroll, one of the strongest fan bases in the country and a strong baseball tradition, and almost always place high in their division.
And they are definitely the best team right now.
They just won the World Series a few days ago. The intention of the World Series is to prove who is the best team in Major League Baseball by a best of seven game series. I’m sorry, but you just became Daniel, Master of the Obvious, with that last sentence. 😉

Oh sorry, for some reason I didn’t catch that.
It’s definitely great to be in Boston these days. New England Patriots are kicking everybody’s butts, and the Redsox are the best in baseball.
I did that Choose Your Rodventure, and I chose the Dodgers. Fitting, I think to send him to my most hated team (being a Giants fan). I pray hard that Peter Magowan in San Francisco looks elsewhere for a Bonds replacement.

Nope. I’m in New York for some time to come. But I don’t think I’ll become a Yankees fan. Maybe if they become losers again my heart might be touched as they fight the big bad evil in Boston. 😉

Yes, Daniel. I know you’re still in New York. I was teasing you. Last time I checked, there was more than one team in New York City anyways.
The big bad evil in boston? They are definitely big, look at Papi trying to turn 2nd. They definitely try to cultivate a bad as I want to be attitude, but they come off as posers more often or not. Evil? No, they aren’t evil. Not at all. They are just a baseball team.
