Bush’s “Ownership Society”

October 10, 2008 at 8:49 pm | Posted in American politics | 16 Comments

Uh, I don’t think this is what he had in mind. I don’t think he had in mind that the government would OWN banks…but alas, it is Bush’s policies that has brought us to this.

1. Bush was given a suprlus. He is leaving behind a collapsing economy.

2. Bush failed in Afghanistan.

3. Bush failed in Iraq.

4. Bush failed in New Orleans.

5. Bush failed with the economy.

Bush will forever be considered the worst president America has ever had. Dan Froomkin has the best title to describe George W. Bush.

BUSH JUST MAKES IT WORSE

  1. No, no, no.

    1) Bush was given both the surplus and an f’d up mortgage system. No one (except maybe the owners who made off with millions) saw the mortgage crisis he was given. Not his fault. But he has put in place a plan that, although it rewards greed, is pretty much the only option to stave off an even worse crisis.

    2) Bush succeeded in Afghanistan, but terrorists have regrouped and we are systematically taking them on. Terrorists have proven to be a very formidable opponnent, heck who could be tougher than someone that pulls the trigger on their own life. Yet Bush is still willing to take on these people, he is still pushing us to defeat them. No other President has had to deal with such a complex enemy, and no one has shown as much resilience as Bush to securing victory.

    3) Bush has succeeded in Iraq, even while staving off four years of liberals working against our victory, and wishing for our failure. He sticks to his plan, even when everyone is against it, and he turns out right.

    4) The Levees failed in New Orleans. I did not know Bush was chief engineer.

    5) GM, Dodge, and Ford are all taking huge losses to foreign companies. Bush cannot be responsible for American laziness.

Overall I give Bush a 4 out of 5 rating as President. On the flipside to Bush being the worst President ever, your logic is evidence of this being the worst generation of Americans ever. Peace loving, emotional communists, with no work ethic. Liberals just make it worse. We are doomed to failure.

  2. Joe,

    1. You realize that what you are basically asserting is that Bush was given a bad system and DID NOTHING to fix it. He FAILED!

    2. Bush has NOT succeeded in Afghanistan. If terrorists are regrouping, that means that Bush FAILED.

    3. Bush failed in Iraq from the start to now. It matters not at all what liberals have said, because they have not had control of the military over these past eight years. Bush has. Thus, it is he who FAILED in Iraq.

    4. Bush FAILED to manage FEMA to ensure that disaster recovery would go proper. He failed.

    5. American laziness? You are truly unhinged dude. You truly do not know what you are talking about.

The worst generation of Americans ever? Wow, such anti-Americanism from a supposedly patriotic person.

  3. i love it! it’s republicans like joe that makes me laugh! he blames our state of the country on terrorist, laziness and the levees. but, yet, if it the tables were turned and our economy and morale were both high, joe would say it was because of our great president. wow! still not getting how that works.

daniel, you forgot that bush failed our children as well with his pathetic attempt with the “no child left behind” act.

  4. ah yes, thank you big smartmouth, for reminding me of the NCLB. Truly one of the worst legislative pieces to come out of these last eight years.

  5. Daniel, why don’t you stop it with the accusations? I love my country, but that does not mean I love everything my country does. You are unwise to put forth such a statement. But I would expect nothing more intelligent from a liberal.

You see, our economy is founded on the principle that it runs itself. Government is supposed to get out of the way. Logically then, stay with me I know this is hard for you, when something the government is not involved in goes to hell, it is not the governments fault! Unless of course you are a communist who thinks government should run the economy.

You think Americans are not getting lazy? What world do you live in? Look at our education. We are dropping in the world. Why? Because we are lowering standards so that everyone passes. Why are we lowering standards? Becuase no one does homework, no one puts effort into school. So standards are lowered in order for kids to pass school. So our internal ranking looks fine, but hold us up to the rest of the world and our glory soon fades. Yes we are getting lazy. You may not like it, but its the truth. Granted it is human nature (look at history) to take life easy when we there is an abundance of wealth. So our behaviour can be explained, but it simply is what it is. No way around it. (On a side note, letting our economy fail might have jump started our laziness and woken the american spirit back up. But instead we are crippling ourselves. You can thank socialism for that.)

The fight in afghanistan and Iraq are both very much alive. No one has failed, the only way to do so is to give up and pull out. You are completely going off the wall. Put a democrat in power and you might start to see some failure if they grow weak legs and withdraw too soon.

Hey big smart mouth, grow a brain and then read what I wrote again. You honestly pretend that terrorists, hurricanes, and our citizens have no effect on our country. Oh, shoot me for not having seen that! Wow how could I be so blind not to realize everything that happened to our country is becuase of Bush. But then you have nothing else to say, so you put words in my mouth. That is a great illustration that you have already formed your beliefs before you logically think about anything. Well done!

The one thing that I do agree on with you guys is the No Child left Behind. It is a piece of junk and by the way a testament that americans are getting lazy and socialistic.

  6. Joe,

Daniel, why don’t you stop it with the accusations? I love my country, but that does not mean I love everything my country does.

My apologies, but it sure looks nice to see some conservatives get the short end of the stick for once. You are indeed anti-American, deriding Americans like that. That’s exactly what conservatives say to liberals who dare criticize American foreign policy under conservatives. I’m glad you realize you don’t like it very much. Perhaps in the future, you’d do less such attacks upon a person’s feelings toward their nation.

But I would expect nothing more intelligent from a liberal.

I know, I know, I stooped down to the level of a conservative. I’ll get back up to the higher level of the liberal.

You see, our economy is founded on the principle that it runs itself.

Heh, that ideology just died and got buried. So long free capitalism. Don’t let the door hit you on your greedy way out.

You think Americans are not getting lazy? What world do you live in

No, I don’t think Americans are getting lazy. I’m living in the real world, thank you. I think that Americans work very hard. I don’t think “lazy” is the right word you are looking for to describe what you think. Americans are among the hardest working in the world. We take the fewest weeks of vacation a year. We work among the most hours. I think intellectually we are becoming lazy, but that’s only one aspect of the American life. Overall, we are most certainly not lazy as a nation.

Look at our education. We are dropping in the world. Why? Because we are lowering standards so that everyone passes. Why are we lowering standards? Becuase no one does homework, no one puts effort into school.

Actually it’s because of bad parenting, or hell, a lack of parenting all together. As one who is immersed in the world of education, I know that educators are quite professional—and hard workers—not lazy—but they get these kids from parents who just don’t give a damn. Blame the parents dude.

You can thank socialism for that.

Uh, we’re not a socialist country. You should thank capitalism for the creation of a lazy people. Now that we’re turning socialist, we’re going on the path of the much better Europeans. 🙂

Put a democrat in power and you might start to see some failure if they grow weak legs and withdraw too soon.

Put a Democrat in power and you will see wars ended responsibly. Keep a Republican in power and you will witness endless war. There is only one being who is all for endless war, and his name does not start with a “G” but rather with an “S”. I for one stand with those who make peace, not endless war. Go take your gun out and go kill those that want to kill you. Go on, kill yourselves. Spill your blood. I for one will go and live with those who wish peace.

how could I be so blind not to realize everything that happened to our country is becuase of Bush.

Yes, how could you have been so blind.

  7. Now that we’re turning socialist, we’re going on the path of the much better Europeans.

I just peed my pants laughing…

    Please go live there, Daniel.

  8. Why should I move there when socialism is coming here. 🙂

  9. So true. I, personally, can’t wait for bread lines and for my kids to not be able to get jobs because others can’t lose them. Oh, yeah. I can’t wait for socialized medicine- I’ll have a tumor, have to wait 3 weeks for the biopsy, and find out I could have saved $$$ and my life had I gotten the biopsy and then treatment (which was another 6 week wait to start) sooner! (Ture story-family member)

    Should be a hoot.

  10. cuz there are so many bread lines in Europe…

    Com’on, stop the hyperbole.

  11. In all seriousness, I would love to read some good, pragmatic arguments for socialism.

In another vein, I recommend Wilhelm Roepke for the anti-pure socialism argument.

  12. Yeah, the bread lines were a stretch…what else did I write…

  13. socialized medicine. Hmm, let me relate a story. I was in Romania. I had a bad pain in my lower back (it turned out to be a kidney stone). I was taken to the local hospital and within 30 minutes had the medicine needed to stop the pain. Not only that but the good Romanian taxpayers paid for that hospital visit. I am forever grateful to them. 🙂

  14. Meanwhile, the following year, the kidney stone came back while I lived in Alaska. I had to go to the emergency room several times, and finally had to have lithrotripsy to get the stone out. The total cost? $20,000 dollars! Yeah, I didn’t have that kind of money, so I filed for bankruptcy. The poor hospital that helped me out never got paid for that service. So sad.

  15. To reply to your comment that got caught in moderation, I’m not a socialist. I’m a moderate. I think there are aspects of socialism that are really good, and required for a stable system. I think that this collapse shows that businesses cannot be trusted to regulate themselves, for example.

  16. Wow. Between the various broken bones I’ve had over the years, the lithotripsy I went through a while back because of a kidney stone, my wife’s chemotherapy, surgery and radiation treatments (which have all been covered by our medical plan, except for the co-payments when we go to the doctor or hospital), it’s apparent that we have been seriously ripping off our medical provider.

I don’t even want to know how much everything we’ve used has really cost.
