Why Howard Fineman is Stupid

He asks: “Why has Obama messed up?” As if the current debacle debate on health care is somehow Obama’s fault. The reason Howard Fineman is stupid is because he answers his own question, and he admits in the answer that it has nothing at all to do with Obama!

How did a gifted, charismatic young Democrat — who won the White House by a large margin and brought in huge congressional majorities — manage NOT to enact fundamental health care reform, a goal his party has been seeking since Truman?

I still think Obama is going to get a bill, just not one very worthy of the name. Why?

Well, Republicans and their conservative and corporate allies are a big part of the explanation. Health care is one-seventh of the economy. You can’t expect to rewire it easily. There are going to be losers, and they are not going to go quietly.

Also, there are no moderates left in the GOP. Only conservatives who want to deny Obama success or legitimacy. They’ll oppose anything he proposes and call it principle.

Exactly. Of course Mr. Fineman also forgets the elephant in the room. And no, it is not the GOP. His employer. GE. News Corp. CBS Corporation. Walt Disney Company. Time Warner. The media, particularly the 24/7 group allow for the most stupid and vile language to permeate the political discourse. “Death Panels?” Seriously. “Pulling the plug on grandma?” Please. Does Mr. Fineman really think that if the media didn’t press the “Death Panels” story so strongly, people wouldn’t have as much doubt on health care as they do? Mr. Fineman seems to think Americans are as cynical as he is about the news industry, but there is still a significant portion of the American public that gives some trust to the news industry to get it right. It is sad that they do, because people like Mr. Fineman will continue to lie to them with no punishment for their grievous actions.
