Eye of Mordor on Iraq

Rick Santorum’s desparation continues to increase. Now he is trying to tie the war in Iraq to Lord of the Rings by saying:

“As the hobbits are going up Mount Doom, the Eye of Mordor is being drawn somewhere else,” Santorum said, describing the tool the evil Lord Sauron used in search of the magical ring that would consolidate his power over Middle-earth.

“It’s being drawn to Iraq and it’s not being drawn to the U.S.,” Santorum continued. “You know what? I want to keep it on Iraq. I don’t want the Eye to come back here to the United States.”

Um, so Mr. Santorum, for your analogy to be correct, Frodo and Sam would be, who exactly? The Eye of Mordor was distracted by Aragorn and his army from Gondor, so that Frodo and Sam could climb the mountain and destroy Sauron’s ring. So….who exactly are Frodo and Sam in your analogy? I can see that you are comparing Aragorn’s army to our military in Iraq, apparently distracting the Eye and all the orcs from getting in the way of Frodo and Sam, but just who are Frodo and Sam in your analogy?

Or is the reality that you are so desparate now in your campaign, that you are losing so badly that you have no choice but to turn ridiculous?
